In September 2000, St. Christopher House received an Innovation Award for its Health Action Theatre Program under the SHARE Awards Program. The SHARE Awards Program was sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline during the program's first three-year cycle.

The SHARE program awarded money via its request for proposal process. A review committee of renowned North American figures chose the community-based organizations that the committee believed to be leaders in providing culturally-sensitive health care and/or access to health care services.

The SHARE Awards are administered by the University of Pennsylvania's Institute on Aging.The award received was to continue and expand the use of the Action Theatre model for two years and to apply it to health promotion in general. More information about the awards can be found here.
